Kavizo: 83 free Persian tools for everyday calculations

Kavizo is a Persian-language website from Qalam Media Group that brings common calculation tools together in one place, free of charge. When Zoomit reported on it, Kavizo had 83 tools in 9 categories, among them finance and maths, unit conversion, date and time, text tools, technology and legal calculations. The tools run in a phone or computer browser and need no software to be installed.

Tasks such as working out a loan instalment, converting between the Persian and Gregorian calendars or writing a cheque amount in words usually mean searching for a separate website for each one. Kavizo puts them in a single Persian service and, in many of its tools, shows how the result was reached as well as the result itself.

Percentages

The percentage calculator works out a percentage of a number, the percentage change in a price, the ratio between two numbers and the original amount before a percentage increase. The result appears as the numbers are entered, with the formula and the steps available.

• Discounts: the final price after a discount, including discounts applied in several stages.
• Test scores with negative marking: enter the number of right, wrong and unanswered questions to get the final percentage; scores across several subjects can be averaged with different weights.
• Sales profit: shows the difference between markup on the purchase price and margin on the selling price.

Finance

The loan instalment calculator takes the loan amount, interest rate and number of instalments and returns the instalment amount, total interest and a repayment schedule. It can also work back from an instalment amount to the interest rate. The deposit interest calculator estimates earnings from the amount, annual rate and term, and compares simple, compound and daily interest.

The results depend on what the user enters and do not necessarily account for every condition, fee or side cost in a real contract.

Dates, numbers and technology

• Date conversion: Persian to Gregorian and back, and age in years, months and days.
• Numbers in words: writes a number out in Persian words with the amount in toman and rial, for cheques and financial documents.
• QR codes: for a link, text, Wi-Fi network details or a contact card, exported as PNG or SVG.

Unit conversion, word count, the difference between two dates, equation solving and password generation are also available from the categories on the home page.

Working shown, phone use and embedding

In a number of tools the answer comes with the calculation steps, formulas and related examples. Some also give a ready-made Excel formula or the sequence of keys to press on a phone calculator.

Kavizo can be added to a phone’s home screen and opened like an app. According to the site, tools that have been opened before also work offline. Website owners and content producers can embed some of the calculators in their own pages.
